Job Description

Principal Perception Engineer - Computer Vision

Sunnyvale, CA

$200,000 - $250,000/year + full benefits and performance bonus

THE COMPANY

This company serves the agricultural industry by designing and building advanced farm machines which utilize computer vision and deep learning, allowing farmers to understand and manage every plant. This in turn improves farmer profitability, protects the environment by reducing pesticide use, and captures valuable plant-by-plant data. A pioneer in the agricultural robotics space, this company developed a state-of-the-art intelligent sprayer, which applies pesticide only where needed, reducing pesticide spray volumes by up to 90%. Following the success of this product, the company has been acquired by and runs as an independent subsidiary under the largest provider of equipment for agriculture, forestry, construction, lawn and turf care, landscaping and irrigation which has allowed the company to grow rapidly. Together, both companies are actively seeking to apply advanced computer vision, machine learning, and robotics technologies to other areas in agriculture beyond spraying.

THE ROLE

The Principal Perception Engineer will be joining an exciting new program that sits at the intersection of agriculture, machine learning, and robotics. Details are confidential, but this program has tremendous potential to help farmers, to shape global farming practices, and to have a major impact on one of America's most iconic brands. • Working with the Software team to transition processing from desktop/server class machines to real-time, field robotic systems
  • Work with systems software engineers to help architect and develop data processing and annotation pipelines for continuous system monitoring and improvement

YOUR BACKGROUND AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • PhD degree in Computer Vision or Machine Learning; Masters in same field with 7+ years of experience will be considered
