Summer Day Camp Director - "All That and Then Some" Program SALARY: $18.00 - $20.50 Hourly OPENING DATE: 02/19/19 CLOSING DATE: Continuous JOB CHARACTERISTICS: ***PART TIME JOB OPPORTUNITY*** SUMMER DAY CAMP DIRECTOR All That and Then Some Program HIRING DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation PROGRAM: "All That and Then Some" (11 – 14 year old youth program) WORK LOCATION: Willow Pass Community Center, 2748 East Olivera Road, Concord, 94519 DATES: Staff Training: Select dates/times between June 1st - June 8th Camp Runs: June 10 - August 9th HOURS: Vary between 7:30 a.m. – 6:15 p.m. SALARY RANGE: $18.00 - $20.50 per hour FINAL FILING DATE: Open Until Filled THE POSITION : As the Program Director you will: plan, coordinate, supervise staff and initiate various activities; be an excellent role model and positive mentor for middle school aged children; be part of a team; be creative; work hard; play hard, and develop positive relationships with staff, participants and parents. Programs include: activities focused on health, fitness and nutrition education; cooking projects; swimming; local trips & excursions; challenging reality games, innovative art projects and more. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Ensure the overall safety and well-being of participants and staff. Oversee, monitor, plan and implement daily activities appropriate to the needs of 11 – 14 year old youth. Managing staff and assign tasks as needed. Be able to establish a positive rapport with students, parents and co-workers. Ensure supervision of participants at all times. Book locations & coordinate transportation for all weekly field trips using city cars, bus, vans and public transportation. Manage, maintain budget & purchase needed tickets, materials and supplies for scheduled activities. Manage, maintain & update program records, weekly calendar & newsletter, participant emergency cards, staff evaluations and binder documenting all program correspondence. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrates sound knowledge of good teaching practices and youth/teen development. Possesses experience working with elementary/teen age youth. Possesses good organization and time-management skills. Possesses a minimum of one (1) year of experience in recreation or related field; supervisory experience is highly desired. Possess a minimum of 20 college units or coursework in child development or related curriculum. Ability to guide and train new and returning staff on best practices in youth programming and related fields. Other requirements - Must be at least 18 years old and in good health; have, or be willing to obtain before start of program: Fingerprint clearance, TB clearance; CPR, First Aid, AED certification; Food Handling Certification, and have a valid California Driver''''s license. Must be available to participate in mandatory Training Workshops select dates and times June 1st - June 8th. Employment Type: Temp/Seasonal Salary: $15+ Hourly
